Our purpose at WAO Is to provide the women at the University of Toronto a space, resources, and support to advocate, educate and fundraise for prominent women’s issues around the world. Subsequently creating a community of like-minded, dedicated, self-identifying women passionate about making a difference.

Our goal is to raise resources, and awareness to select and diverse women’s issues around the world, and in our own backyard. Each year our members will collectively select two charities, movements, or organizations to support. Fundraising efforts throughout the year will send 100% of the proceeds to the selected organization. Subsequently, our outreach program will focus on education and community building of the WAO community. Collectively it Is the WAO’s goal to give women the tools and support In their journey to effect change.

OUR STRUCTURE:

The WAO is designed to allow members to adapt their membership in a number of ways. With many ways to get involved general members are able to attend our events, benefit from our initiatives, enroll in our membership program or apply to one of our councils. The WAO Is divided into two councils for members looking to get a more hands-on experience.

Outreach Council

The advocacy council will propose a list of the charities. The WAO will then vote on two to support. The Advocacy Council will then plan, organize and manage the fundraising efforts for said charities. The Head of Advocacy along with the Executive Board will appoint positions within the council to aid in this process. General Advocacy Council members will aid In the events and advocacy efforts.

Advocacy Council

The outreach council Is structured similarly to the advocacy council, as general outreach council members will have positions available, appointed by the Head of Outreach and the Executive Board. The main concern of the outreach council Is finding and sharing resources, educational and otherwise, that can benefit the WAO and the greater community.
